The prop 37 campaign is embroiled in loads of controversy and is receiving a surge of differing standpoints. Both the sides are aggressively selling their views to the public. One supporter of the heavily funded say no to prop 37 campaign is Keith Kloor who has dubbed supporters of prop 37 as the anti-science community. But he has only one source which tags GMOs as safe and it comes from a Mosanto and Pioneer Hi-Bred International funded scientist - Pamela Roland. Against this view are the numerous standpoints that genetically modified foods are harmful. Some of the opinions against GMO foods claim that they can cause allergies, toxicity, fertility problems, immune system dsyregulation and birth defects. Moreover, very few studies have been conducted on the safety of GM foods. Furthermore, the claim of GMO producers that these foods reduce world hunger have also been falsified as CMO crops do not generate higher yields. Even allegations about labels increasing cost of GM foods and having the potential to draw lawsuits are unfounded. The underlying fact is that consumers have a choice to make informed decisions and about 90% of Americans believe that GM foods should be labeled.
