The European Commission would like to relax limits on genetically modified organisms in food. However, Germany's agriculture minister Ilse Aigner supports a no-tolerance policy. Aigner also said that "When we're talking about unapproved GMOs, then security must be given highest priority, especially when it comes to food." Organisms with manipulated genes have been used in Germany for about ten years as EU approved it. There can be traces even in organic products or those that have labels saying that they are free of genetic technology.
