Italian departments of agriculture and environment have ordered to demolish experimental field of GMO plants, which was authorized long back in 1998. The demolishment process of the 14-year old GMO experimental field will starts from 12 June 2012. The University of Tuscia, Italy, set up the GMO experimental field. According to University Prof. Rugini, the experimental field could be a way to find out if and in which measure transgenic plants can or cannot "pollute" an environment, as alleged by anti-GMO activists.
