So many times, you are faced with the question, what can i compost? The answer lies in your home. Generally, compost is made up of two elements - browns and greens. Browns are those dry items in and around the house like cardboards, dried leaves, shredded black and white newspaper, shredded bills and documents, dryer lint and even hair from your brush (without gel or hair spray). While greens are wet items like coffee grounds and teabags, plain cooked rice or pasta, stale crackers, bread, cereal or pretzels, old herbs and spices, egg shells and grass clippings (that haven't been treated with chemical fertilizers). This is not an exhaustive list of everything you can compost but it can guide you in being creative with your indoor composting.
