More Support for Vermont GE Labeling Law
From across the state, hundreds of people converged at the statehouse to tell the House Agriculture Committee to pass the Vermont Right to Know Genetically Modified Food Act. By the end of the day, 112 people testified in support of the bill mandating all GE foods in Vermont to be labeled. With the enormous support, committee chair Carolyn Partridge said she expects it to be passed very soon, “we have two weeks left in the session, i think it’s important, if nothing else, to set up a model bill and do our best to create a defensible bill.” She said. A success in Vermont could cause a resonating effect across the country.
