But the high pressure from public has prevented the FDA from giving the salmon a go ahead. But now, the pressure to get the genetically engineered salmon will be higher, as another biotechnology company has purchased a 50 percent stake in AquAdvantage. The biotechnology company, Intrexon, which has purchased stake in AquAdvantage has strong ties with Mosanto. Intrexon has the former CEO of Mosanto in its board of directors. However, it has been found that the genetically engineered salmon, AquaBounty, is not safe for consumption.
