You must have been into a swimming pool for more than a single time. Surely, you have also enjoyed the experience of swimming into the pool as well as diving when the water covers your body and gives a soothing effect to you, right?
However, do you wonder how the water has been as clear as crystal? Despite of all the people inside the pool (some of them would surely be peeing), it is still free from all the dirt particles and unwanted fragments? Well, this blog is going to tell you about what does a pool pump do, how all the swimming pools are able to keep the water clean by using swimming pool pump and how the pool pump running system is circulated to keep the pool forever clean.
The pool pump system makes the water of swimming pool re-circulate into the pool. It makes the whole water pass through a series of pre-filters so that water is cleaning drop by drop with the help of pool pumps. This process of pumping pool water towards the filters makes the swimming pool bigger particles such as leaves or straws as well as smaller particles like dust are pumped to the filter system where all of the particles are filtered out of the swimming pool.
Questions That Make You Wonder…
Now you must have a zillion questions such as how does a pool pump work in actual? How long can a pool run without pool pump? Should pool pump run continuously or what is the best time to run pool pump? Well let me tell you all one by one but before that let’s go through a few important things about swimming pool filtration.
The main parts of filtration system are:
- Skimmer
- Drain
- Jet nozzles
- Water pump
- Filter
- Stopcocks.
All the dirt in the water or that is fallen into the water from outside are pushed to the skimmer that is placed on the side of the water perpendicular to jet nozzles. The name explains it all; meaning it skims out all the unnecessary particles from the pool. Inside the skimmer, there is a huge basket. As the leaves and other fragments are passed through the skimmer, the basket collects all the unnecessary particles into it. So that the pool pump shall not be blocked by the bigger particles present in the water.
The water is now drained to the next basket which stops prevention of the smaller particles like hair from going to the further to the main filtration. As the water is pumped here through the drain pipe, the sand filter attached to it clears all the invisible particles via sand paper. Then, the water is now pushed back to the swimming pool through other jet nozzles which is placed on the opposite side of the skimmer.
Now, if you want, you can use the pool pump for the whole day however, the ideal pool pump timings are 8-16 hours/day and the best time to run the pool pump is the day hours since, at night all the particles get collected into the water.
This was it. Hope it helped, happy diving!
