A bill known as the "VT Right to Know Genetically Engineered Food Act" which requires all products containing genetically modified ingredients to be strictly and clearly labeled is at the Vermont House of Representatives. All products whether totally or partially containing GMOs would be visibly labeled as 'genetically modified' for raw agricultural commodities and 'partially produced with genetic engineering' or 'may be partially produced with genetic engineering' for processed food products. Also, the legislation prohibits GMO manufacturers from using promotional labels like "naturally made," "naturally grown," "all natural" or any related words. The bill was introduced by Representive Kate Webb of Shelbume on February 1, 2012.
